ITEA President’s Letter
Stockholm
Dear Members of ITEA,
As I enter my second year as President of ITEA, it’s evident that our research has never held a greater significance. We find ourselves at the nexus of pressing global challenges – from climate concerns and strengthening sustainable economic growth to ensuring efficient and equitable allocation of scarce resources. Our expertise plays a pivotal role in addressing these complexities on a national and global scale. I hope that the much-appreciated keynote delivered by Professor Jonas Eliasson at the ITEA conference in Santander will inspire us to amplify the influence of our research results in society by ensuring that they gain more traction among policymakers.
I would like to once again express my gratitude to the Local Organizing Committee in Santander, led by Ramón Núñez Sánchez. Their dedication and tireless efforts resulted in a remarkable conference and summer school. Equally, I appreciate each of you for your unwavering support and enthusiastic participation, which played a key role in achieving this success. A special welcome is extended to all new members of our association.
Looking ahead, the horizon is bright. Please feel warmly welcome to the ITEA Annual Conference and School in 2024, hosted by the Institute for Transport Studies in Leeds. This event, supported by Professor Andrew Smith and his dedicated colleagues, promises to be vibrant, productive, and enjoyable. As always, ITEA events are dedicated to promoting scientific excellence and fostering dialogue. The conference is scheduled for June 26th to 28th, 2024. The accompanying summer school, from June 24th to 26th, offers another platform for the exchange of ideas that define our association.
This year, ITEA has also established the Richard Arnott Best Paper Prize, named after one of the founders of ITEA. This prize will serve as a testament to Professor Richard Arnott’s enduring influence and as an inspiration for future generations of economists. Richard’s impact on the field of economics was immeasurable, spanning a wide range of subjects including urban economics and transportation economics.
We also aim to initiate online ITEA Seminars. Please keep an eye out for these. We also appreciate any kind of suggestions and feedback from you.
Best wishes
Maria Börjesson
